After a ‘summer of hell,’ feds dole out $444M to help fix N.J. commuting issues

New Jersey commuters were big winners when the Federal Railroad Administration announced $444 million in grants for projects that address the infrastructure problems that made riders lives’ miserable during the recent “summer of hell” on the Northeast Corridor.
The grants, announced Thursday by the FRA, included the $112 million in grants that will replace aging corridor line infrastructure blamed for NJ Transit and Amtrak’s “summer of hell” service suspensions, delays and train cancellations, announced by U.S. Rep. Frank Pallone, D-6th Dist.
